Carlos Eugenio Hernandez Lavagna was born 12 August 1927 on Zepita Street in old Callao, to Julio HERNANDEZ, a native of Spain; and Maria Rosa LAVAGNA, of Cicily, Italy. Carlos was one of eight children, including the following who are known:

  • Manuel HERNANDEZ; m. Rosa HERNANDEZ Hernandez; and came to the U.S. in the late 1980s. They have two daughters:

    Guillermo MEDRANO Salvatierra, born on January 10, 1901 in Callao; married Olinda AGUILAR Quiroz, born January 1, 1900 in Huacho; they had three children:

  • Maria Eugenia MEDRANO. Carlos and Eugenia were married on 6 October 1940. All his adult life, after attending two years of college in business administration, Carlos operated Hernandez Funeral Home with Eugenia in Callao until passing away of a heart attack on 21 June 1993 at his home in Callao. His remains are interred in the American Cemetery in Lima.

  • Guillermo Alberto MEDRANO Aguilar, born April 24, 1926 in Callao, died March 18, 1997 in Miami, Florida. On August 24, 1952, he married Rosa Amelia LEY Hurtado, born on August 26, 1929 in Callao. In June 1992, they emigrated to the U.S. They had three children:

  • 2. Alberto Gabriel Guillermo MEDRANO Ley, m. Maryann Estela HELLER Arriz, with two sons: Alberto MEDRANO and Diego MEDRANO.

  • 3. Fernando Alberto MEDRANO Ley, m Beatriz CABRERA Travieso.

     

  • Luisa MEDRANO. They had one daughter:

  • Luisa TALLEDO Medrano, completed M.D. and Ph.D. degrees; has practiced as a pediatrician and psychologist, and is a university professor in Lima.

    Guillermo had one sister, Felicita MEDRANO Tudela who m. Napoleon TUDELA, formerly a federal Supreme Court judge in Peru. Parke Memorial Napoleon Tudela, named in his honor, is in central Lima. Their son is Francisco Tudela, who has served in the Peruvian congress and is currently [1996] Minister of Foreign Affairs.

  • Jorge Humberto HERNANDEZ Medrano, commonly known as "Pipo".

  • Luisa Yolanda HERNANDEZ Medrano, known as "Coca," b. 4 April 1954 in Callao; d. 28 September 1993 in Callao, unmarried, without issue.

  • Gladys HERNANDEZ Medrano.

  • Sara Luzmila HERNANDEZ Medrano, b. 5 March 1953 in Callao; m. Jorge Eugenio DIAZ on 22 September 1972 in Callao; d. 14 October 1996 in Monticello, Sullivan County, New York. Her remains were cremated on 17 October 1996 and flown back to Peru for interrment. Sara and Jorge had two children:
  • Alain DIAZ.
  • Yesenia DIAZ, m Victor Troy CARR. The have one child, Sarah Yesenia CARR.
