Photo Album
By JIM RUE

Children, come here. Look at these shots.
Here is your family, I wish you knew.
Before the winds of eternity blew
Your uncle, my brother, loved one of lots.

Of brothers, beyond life's mystical rim.
Here I am at eight in boxing gloves
Fitted on me with brotherly love
By big brother Buddy - I'm Butchy to him.

Seeing me fight one foe and another
He taught me parries and self-respect
Then backed off - becoming more circumspect
To a warmly erroneous, excitable mother.

Here, we're camping like so many, so many others
to come. Here we're painting and planting and such.
Here, Uncle Bud is a child by a rabbit hutch.
See how time brings change to everyone's brothers?

His latest change was too lively, too gentle, too quick.
My blest brother brought four siblings to three.
And now, my children, you will see
How character and wholeness make changes that stick.

His last change is done, kids. A tearful farewell.
Brings Bud inside me and so on to you.
The last photo shows no Uncle Bud, no Buddy in view.
But he is not gone. He still loves you well.

Conversation In The Mountains
By LI PO

If you were to ask me why I dwell among green mountains
I should laugh silently - my soul is serene.
The peach blossom follows the moving water.
There is another heaven and earth beyond the world of men.
