  2. The Times Herald-Record (Middletown, New York), 23 June 1993. "Carlos E. Hernandez Lavagna of Callao, Peru, owner and operator of Hernandez Funeral Home, died Monday, June 21 at his home. He was 75. The son of the late Rosa Maria Lavagna and the late Julio Hernandez, natives of Italy and Spain, respectively, he was born August 12, 1918 in Lima, Peru. Survivors include his wife Eugenia Medrano Hernandez of Lima, and daughters Rosa Marquez of Middletown, Carmen B. Rue of Monticello and Sara Diaz of Monticello. Other survivors include five children in Lima, Carlos E. Hernandez, Maria Tuliano, Luisa Hernandez, four sons-in-law, Jorge Marquez of Middletown, Thomas S. Rue and Jorge Diaz of Monticello, and Jose Tuliano of Lima, daughter-in-law Angelita Hernandez; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Burial was in Bajquejano U.S. Cemetery in Lima. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 628, Monticello, NY 12701.".

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1990, Carmen Betsabe Hernandez and Thomas Scott Rue were married in a civil ceremony officiated by Thompson Town Justice Burton Ledina, in Monticello, N.Y. The couple will host a reception on March 24, at Mr. Willy's Restaurant, Monticello. The bride is the daughter of Carlos and Eugenia Hernandez, and holds a nursing degree from Universida Viarreal, Lima, Peru. She is employed by Right Finishing Co., Monticello, and Sylvia Schachnovosky, Kiamesha Lake. Ms. Hernandez has three children: Janesa, Russell Sage College; Eduardo and Carolina, 4th grade, K.L. Rutherford Elementary School. The groom, son of Bud and Ann Rue, Milanville, Pa., holds a masters degree in counseling services from Rider College, N.J., and a bachelors degree in psychology from Trenton State College, N.J. He is employed as a family therapist with Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth. The family will make their home in Monticello.".

  7. The River Reporter, 17 Oct. 1996. "Sara Luzmila Diaz of Monticello, a homemaker and longtime area resident, died Monday, October 14, 1996, at her home. She was 43 years of age. The daughter of the late Carlos and Eugenia Hernandez, she was born March 5, 1953, in Callao, Peru. She is survived by her husband, Jorge E. Diaz, and a son, Alain Diaz, both at home; a daughter and son-in-law, Yesenia and Troy Carr of Liberty; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosa and Jorge Marquez of Croton-on-Hudson and Carmen and Tom Rue of Monticello; two brothers and two sisters of Lima, Peru; a granddaughter, Sarah Carr; and several nieces, nephews and cousins including Manuel and Rosa Hernandez of Monticello. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday at St. Peter's Church in Monticello. Cremation was made at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope with interment of the ashes to be made in Peru. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange in the Hudson Valley, c/o Community General Hospital, Harris, N.Y. 12742; or to the American Cancer Society, 159 Green St., Kingston, N.Y. 12401. Funeral arrangements were made by the VanInwegen and Kenny Funeral Home in Monticello.".

The daughter of Eugenia Medrano Hernandez and the late Carlos E. Hernandez Lavagna, she was born April 4, 1954 in Lima, Peru. Survivors include her mother of Lima; three sisters, Rosa Marquez of Middletown, Carmen B. Rue and Sara Diaz, both of Monticello; two brothers and two sisters in Lima, Peru; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was held in Bajquejano International Cemetery in Lima. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.".
